Best of.

5 February 2019

Wow! I can’t believe another year of wonderful weddings has gone by.

It has been the most amazing year with weddings in pubs, by the beach and river, in tipis and art galleries. Even though weddings are about making promises, bringing families together and having a damn good knees up, every wedding has its own character and it’s a real joy being able to capture that, wherever and however people choose to get married.

I’m sitting here trying to choose my favourite photos for this blogpost, looking at the happy smiling faces of my couples and thinking how lucky I am that I get to share such an important day in people’s lives. Being able to create this kind of legacy is a real honour and sometimes I can’t quite believe I get to do this as my job.

This was the year that I also fully switched from Nikon to the Sony camera system. It was a big decision as I had been with Nikon for the last ten years. It was the right move for me as I can now make the most of my documentary style and shoot in a quiet or silent mode which allows me to be even more discreet whilst at a wedding.

Awards

This year I decided to put myself forward a bit more and enter some awards. It’s difficult holding yourself up for scrutiny like that but I’m really delighted that I received some recognition from the international Wedding Photo-Journalists Association – WPJA – and won 9 awards. I am now included in the Top 100 International Wedding Photojournalists and number 8 in the UK. Whoop.
I also won awards from UK based associations, This is Reportage and Photographers Keeping it Real and sat as a judge on the summer PKIR competition.

Thank you

A huge heartfelt thank you to all the couples that asked me to photograph their weddings in 2018 and trusted me to capture their memories in my usual storytelling style – it has been wonderful getting to know you. I have enjoyed every emotional, nail-biting, joyful and laugh out loud moment of your wedding day. I can’t wait for the weddings that are planned for 2019. I’m excited about having outdoor weddings, pub weddings, barns, farms and a few elegant country houses in the mix.

If you are planning on getting married this year please do get in touch to arrange a chat. I cap the number of wedding I shoot each year and I only have a few spaces left for 2019.

Have a fantastic year filled with laughter and adventure.
